�鶹������ý ISD kicks off a month of celebrating the graduating Class of 2023 with a profile of three award-winning student journalists who will take their hard work and dedication into different rewarding career paths. 

Breaking news: Three Bowie High School seniors, all award-winning student journalists, get ready to take their talents to the next level!

Let's meet these outstanding members of the Class of 2023: 

, Editor in Chief of The Dispatch Print edition, Bowie’s campus newspaper, has earned multiple awards for her journalism, including a Tops in Texas award- Student Art from the University Interscholastic League/Interscholastic League Press Conference (UIL/ILPC).

• Isabella said her roots in Florida and Puerto Rico inspired her to use journalism to become an advocate for her fellow students.
• Her favorite part of running the paper has been “being able to get students’ stories that not a lot of people hear about.”

, Editor of The Dispatch Online, was recognized as the Online News Editor of the Year for Texas by the UIL/ILPC.

• For Natalie, being a part of The Dispatch has allowed her to showcase her creativity, develop as a leader and push beyond her limits.
• "I am very honored to receive this level of recognition for my work… it just goes to show all the hard work I put in over the past couple of years.”

, Editor of The Lonestar, Bowie’s yearbook, earned the UIL/ILPC award for Texas Yearbook Editor of the Year.

• Wes said her job gave her the challenge and responsibility of capturing the student body’s treasured experiences and immortalizing them in the Lonestar. 
• “I was so shocked to be able to be recognized at the state level, it is really rewarding seeing all your work pay off and be recognized.”

Big picture: The University Interscholastic League (UIL) was created by The University of Texas at �鶹������ý over 100 years ago to provide leadership and guidance to public school debate and athletic teachers. Since then, the UIL has grown into the largest inter-school organization of its kind in the world, overseeing athletic, academic and performing arts competitions for public school students across Texas. 

• The UIL offers additional journalism contests through its scholastic press organization, Interscholastic League Press Conference (ILPC).

Mentoring: All three seniors expressed gratitude for the unwavering belief and support of their advisors, Michael Reeves (The Dispatch) and Lindsey Shirack (The Lonestar).

• "My advisor pushed me to try my hardest and my best – without him I don't think I would be where I am today," said Natalie.

What's next: Isabella, Natalie and Wes are going their separate ways, but they are all ready to apply the dedication that made them stand-out student journalists as they pursue their career goals. 

• Isabella will head down IH-35 to attend Texas State University to become a pediatric nurse practitioner. 
• Natalie will head to the Big Apple to attend New York University for a dual degree in television/film and business.
• Wes will head up IH-35 to the Forty Acres to study journalism at the University of Texas at �鶹������ý (UT).

Clase de 2023: estudiantes periodistas galardonadas

�鶹������ý ISD inicia un mes de celebración de la Clase de graduación de 2023 con un perfil de tres estudiantes de periodismo que llevarán su arduo trabajo y dedicación a diferentes trayectorias profesionales gratificantes.

Noticias de última hora: Tres estudiantes del último grado de la Preparatoria Bowie, todas ellas periodistas galardonadas, se preparan para llevar su talento al siguiente nivel.

Conozcamos a estas destacadas estudiantes de la Clase de 2023:

 Jefa de edición del periódico impreso de la escuela de Bowie, The Dispatch, ha obtenido múltiples premios por su labor periodística, entre ellos un “Tops in Texas award- Student Art” de La Liga Interescolar Universitaria/ Conferencia de Prensa de la Liga Interescolar (UIL/ILPC) por sus siglas en ingles.

• Isabella dijo que sus raíces en Florida y Puerto Rico la inspiraron a utilizar el periodismo para convertirse en la voz de sus compañeros.
• Su parte favorita de dirigir el periódico ha sido "poder conocer historias de estudiantes de las que no mucha gente conoce".

, Editora del periódico en linea, The Dispatch, fue reconocida como la Editora de Noticias en Linea del Año en Texas por la UIL/ILPC.

• Para Natalie, formar parte de la publicación,“The Dispatch”, le ha permitido mostrar su creatividad, desarrollarse como líder y superar sus límites.
• "Me siento muy honrada de recibir este nivel de reconocimiento por mi trabajo... es una muestra de todo el arduo trabajo que he realizado en los dos últimos años".

, Editora del Anuario Escolar de Bowie, “The Lonestar, ella obtuvo el premio a la Editora de Anuarios Escolar del Año en Texas otorgado por UIL/ILPC. 

• Wes dijo que su trabajo con el anuario escolar le planteaba el reto y la responsabilidad de captar las experiencias más preciadas del alumnado e inmortalizarlas en el Lonestar.
• "Me sorprendió mucho el haber sido reconocida a nivel estatal, es realmente gratificante ver que todo tu trabajo da sus frutos y es reconocido".

Panorama general: La Liga Interescolar Universitaria (UIL) fue creada por la Universidad de Texas en �鶹������ý hace más de 100 años para proporcionar liderazgo y orientación a los maestros de debate y atletismo de las escuelas públicas. Desde entonces, la UIL se ha convertido en la mayor organización inter-escolar de su clase en el mundo, supervisando competiciones atléticas, académicas y de artes escénicas para estudiantes de escuelas públicas de todo Texas.

• La UIL ofrece concursos de periodismo a través de su organización de prensa escolar, la Conferencia de Prensa de la Liga Interescolar (ILPC).

Mentores: Las tres estudiantes agradecieron la confianza y el apoyo de sus asesores, Michael Reeves (The Dispatch) y Lindsey Shirack (The Lonestar).

"Mi instructor me empujó a esforzarme al máximo y a dar lo mejor de mí; sin él no creo que estuviera donde estoy hoy", dijo Natalie.

Lo que sigue: Isabella, Natalie y Wes van por caminos distintos, pero están mas que listas para aplicar la misma dedicación que les hizo destacar como estudiantes de periodismo en la preparatoria pero ahora al perseguir sus objetivos profesionales.

• Isabella asistirá a la Universidad Estatal de Texas y espera convertirse en enfermera pediátrica.
• Natalie se mudará a la gran manzana para estudiar en la Universidad de Nueva York una doble licenciatura en televisión/cine y negocios.
• Wes tiene pensado continuar el camino del periodismo y permanecerá en �鶹������ý porque tiene pensado estudiar en la Universidad de Texas en �鶹������ý (UT) .
