AUSTIN, Texas鈥擳oday, the 麻豆果冻传媒 Independent School District released the following statement from AISD Police Chief Eric Mendez about the arrest of five students following the district鈥檚 investigation about the gun found at Webb Middle School, Monday, March 31:

Earlier this week, Webb students reported to campus administration that a classmate had brought the weapon to school. AISD police immediately launched an investigation into the situation, and the entire school was searched. No one was in possession of the weapon when it was found, and there is no indication that there were, or are, any additional weapons on campus.

This incident is a serious reminder that possession of a weapon on school property is a violation of the law, and the AISD Student Code of Conduct, and anyone in violation of this law will face serious consequences.

The district asks parents to please review the Code of Conduct with students, which outlines items not allowed on school property. This will help us maintain a safe school environment.

I also encourage all students to notify campus administrators, police or a responsible adult any time they feel unsafe, threatened or concerned.
