Overview
The former Brooke Elementary School, located at 3100 E. 4th Street in East Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½, is a 52,282-square-foot facility constructed in 1954 on a 5.38-acre site. The school closed at the end of the 2019–2020 school year and students were reassigned to Govalle Elementary (for students living north of the Colorado River) and Linder Elementary (for students south of the river). In April 2025, the Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ ISD Board of Trustees formally declared the site as surplus.
Like many school districts across the country, Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ ISD is facing significant budget challenges. The sale of the Brooke site is one of several necessary steps essential to avoiding deeper disruptions to our teachers, schools, and programs. While the decision to sell has been made, we remain committed to transparency and are offering opportunities for community members to share their perspectives.
Upcoming Event
Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ ISD will host a community information session on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 6–7 p.m. at the Rudy Mendez Recreation Center (Metz Park) to provide more details on the sale process and hear from community members. Feedback gathered at the session will be shared with potential buyers.
